The drive-type hydraulic torque wrench special socket is purpose-manufactured for use with the WA series drive-type hydraulic torque wrenches, engineered to withstand the substantially higher torque loads and cyclic stress levels that hydraulic wrenches generate compared to hand or impact tools. Standard chrome-vanadium sockets are not rated for hydraulic torque wrench use and may fail under the sustained high torque of hydraulic wrench operation; these dedicated sockets are manufactured from higher-grade alloy steel with heat treatment specified for hydraulic torque wrench service.

The square drive bore is manufactured to close tolerance to ensure firm, backlash-free engagement with the wrench drive shaft under full torque load, preventing the fretting and drive engagement wear that causes early socket failure in hydraulic torque applications. External profile dimensions are controlled to provide adequate clearance within the bolt circle geometry of typical flange and structural joint configurations. Wall thickness and material grade are selected to resist both the primary torque loading and the reaction forces transmitted through the socket body during wrench operation.

Both metric hex and inch hex profiles are available.
