Wind Power Gearbox Synchronous Locking Fixture

The wind power gearbox synchronous locking fixture is a purpose-engineered hydraulic tooling system developed to address the specific challenges of installing and removing shrink disc connections and related interference fits on wind turbine gearbox assemblies. Shrink disc installations require simultaneous, uniform tightening of all bolts around the disc circumference to achieve the specified interference fit without inducing runout or misalignment, a requirement that conventional sequential tightening tools cannot reliably satisfy.

The fixture system integrates a hydraulic torque wrench drive unit with a multi-station manifold that supplies equal torque to all bolt positions simultaneously. Bolt count, pitch circle diameter, torque requirement, and available access geometry are all accommodated in the design, which is developed in collaboration with the customer's engineering team to ensure compatibility with specific gearbox models and nacelle installation constraints. Safety features include overload protection and pressure monitoring with automatic shutdown at the design torque limit.

In addition to shrink disc installation and removal, the system can be adapted for other wind turbine assembly applications requiring synchronized fastening, including main bearing housing bolt circles, gearbox-to-main-frame interface bolts, and tower section flange joints where full-circle simultaneous torquing is specified. The fixture is designed for repeated use over the service life of a wind farm maintenance program, with modular components that can be reconfigured as gearbox types change. On-site commissioning support and operator training are available.
